Of
the many reasons UCLA Healthcare receives such high international
ranking, one critical factor stands out. That difference is
the staff and Allied Health professionals of UCLA Nursing.
Working in
a network of premier healthcare facilities, our
staff enjoys an incomparable range that covers acute care
cases, an excellent learning environment,
and pioneering research.
Not to mention choice of facility and career path.
Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center
Ranked year after year on the U.S. News and World Report’s
“Best Hospitals Honor Roll”, the Medical Center
has specialized intensive care units, state-of-the-art operating
suites for in- and outpatients, a Level I Trauma Center and
a Level III NICU. Add the latest diagnostic technology and
a staff of more than 3,500 and it’s clear why UCLA Medical
Center has achieved such an excellent standing. The construction
of the new one million square foot UCLA Westwood Replacement
Hospital is well under way. With 525-beds, this promises to
be one of the most advanced, patient-friendly hospitals in
the world.
Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center
The very first hospital in Santa Monica is soon to be its
“newest”. Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center, serving
the Westside for more than 70 years, has embarked on a major
new construction program. By 2005, nearly the entire hospital
and campus will have been rebuilt. The Medical Center is a
full-service community teaching hospital. Our Rape Treatment
Center has achieved international recognition, and our comprehensive
Maternity Center welcomes some 1,750 new babies annually.
UCLA Neuropsychiatric Hospital (NPH)
UCLA NPH offers treatment programs for a broad range of illnesses
including depression, childhood and adolescent disorders,
genetic syndromes, schizophrenia, eating disorders, mental
retardation, neuro-behavioral problems, autism and substance
abuse, among others.
The UCLA NPH staff members are role models for affiliating
nursing students, and involved in multidisciplinary training
programs.
Mattel's Children's Hospital at UCLA
Offering a full spectrum of care for all childhood diseases,
this "hospital within a hospital" is further proof
of UCLA's commitment to excellence in specialized fields.
The clinical research conducted at this facility contributes
a vital resource to our Department of Pediatrics, thus ensuring
optimal care to a regional and international patient population.
Other aspects of UCLA Healthcare featuring excellent opportunities
include David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, UCLA Medical
Plaza, and UCLA Primary Care Clinics and Cancer Centers in
communities throughout Southern California.
Volunteering at UCLA
We want you – to become one of our treasured volunteers.
If you're a student considering a rewarding career in health
care, we invite you to explore the exciting volunteer assignments
offered at our medical center. Our TEEN program is designed
for high-school students ages 15 to 18. You're asked to make
a commitment of 80 hours over a one-year period. Please
note that we do NOT offer community service hours to students
wanting to do less than this requirement.
We offer students many interesting positions in both the
clinical and administrative sides of the hospital. The program
creates a win-win situation because our hospital benefits
from the student’s energy and enthusiasm while the student
gains valuable experience working alongside our hospital professionals.
The program also provides students with a firsthand glimpse
at the health-care field and helps them define career goals
as they prepare for college.
